If you are planning a wedding abroad, you should definitely consider having a three day wedding like Sinead and Ed had. ‘We didn’t want it over in one evening so decided to have a three day bash in Puglia,’ says Sinead.
The couple first met one another on a blind date. They were set up by Sinead’s sister and Ed’s best friend. ‘At the time the pair of them worked together and were just friends,’ explains Sinead. ‘They were married last December and are expecting their first baby. Ed and his best friend are now brothers – all down to that first blind date that they organised for us!’ Sinead and Ed were together for just over eight years and engaged for eight months before getting married.
When it came to her wedding dress, Sinead initially did not have an idea about the style she wanted. ‘I am a Fashion Director with a design background, so initially thought I would have to get it made,’ she says. However, a friend of hers recommended The Wedding Dress Shop in Wimbledon. ‘I went there and loved it,’ explains Sinead. ‘The whole experience was a joy, they were laid back but professional. I found my dress straight away, Harlem by Enzoani Blue. As we were getting married in Italy it felt the right level of glamour but still feeling comfortable and durable!’
According to Sinead, both her and Ed are summer people, so it made sense to choose to have their wedding in Puglia. ‘We couldn’t have done it without our wedding planner, Victoria,’ says Sinead. ‘Victoria showed us around 15 venues over 3 days, it was the best experience! We wanted to be near the beach but equally for our venue to be in the countryside (so we could dance util dawn!) She found Masseria Fulcignano for us, which at the time was relatively unknown as a wedding venue.’
If you love the idea of a wedding in Italy, why not choose lemons as a theme? They are perfect for summer weddings in southern Italy. ‘We used lemons as a theme and had them as centre pieces down the long, communal tables,’ says Sinead.
From speaking to Sinead, it is clear that there were many highlights that took place during her three day wedding in Italy. ‘It was incredible getting married surrounded by people we love,’ says Sinead. We also enjoyed staying with everyone at the venue during the wedding week. It meant we had everyone round us to support us and share the special time with us.’

Exclusive Interview with Sarah Colfer from Little Bevan
Style & the Bride changed into handiest too glad to seize up with Sarah Colfer from Little Bevan to talk about among different matters the a while she caters for, how lengthy it’d take to create a bespoke outfit and her new patterns for 2016.
Sarah, welcome to Style & the Bride. What is the tale at the back of the name?
I grew up in what I describe as a ‘Blue Peter’ family – in that our mom advocated us to create all forms of games, toys and garments! She saved all her outstanding garments from the ‘50s & ‘60s and we speedy discovered to tweak those to healthy ourselves. Sadly she died after I changed into nevertheless younger, and so Little Bevan is called after her, in reminiscence of her gentle, creative spirit.
What is your style background?
I am definitely self taught, aside from fundamental faculty stitching classes! I actually have discovered all beneficial skills ‘on-the-spot’ even as operating for small agencies once I graduated from University (awesome fun, now no longer very useful!) and particularly at some point of my time at the posh womenswear fashion dressmaker Amanda Wakeley.
What made making a decision to release the company?
While jogging the bridal room at Amanda Wakeley, I changed into continually requested for desirable tips of in which to locate cute attire for flower women, to healthy the fashion and nice in their bridal gowns. At that time, it appeared to be a completely under-provided area of interest withinside the fashion dressmaker get dressed world, and I continually desired to run my personal impartial business.
Do you entice a specific sort of bride?
We entice a discerning bride who certainly cares approximately each element for her best wedding; who’s searching out youngsters’s clothes to beautify the fashion and nice of her personal bridal get dressed – garments to treasure for the youngsters who’re maximum unique to her and the marriage family.
Do you observed there’s a signature Little Bevan look?
My designs have a sensitive touch, and an stylish silhouette, with signature layering of sheer organza, tender silks and chantilly lace, frequently the use of tonal colorings. There is a quintessential ‘englishness’ to the patterns, which can be stimulated through the posh and romance of historic costume, and my love of classical artwork and literature.
Please permit me realize the a while which you cater for.
We layout for babies, women, boys, intricate teens (and tomboys!) and younger grownup bridesmaids too. I started with simply making youngsters’s garments, however now we cater for all a while, in order that a bride will have a lovely continuity of favor and fabric for all her attendants’ clothes.
It may be hard to locate a ‘grown-up’ get dressed and outfit for a ten yr vintage bridesmaid and pageboy. What do you suggest?
It is crucial to well known the character of the kid in deciding on an outfit layout, even as nevertheless suitable and in-preserving with the bride’s fashion, in order that they love sporting it and definitely experience their function at the marriage. To deliver a greater grown-up look, we are able to hold a fashion a bit greater simple, well fitted, and with easy lines. And then special a while may be connected collectively, giving a steady look, through matching fabric and colored trims.
If any individual desired you to make some thing bespoke for them is that viable? How lengthy does it take?
A bespoke outfit is a final desire for a unique event. We have many layout samples at our Pimlico store, which offer tips of patterns we are able to make with bespoke colorings and trims. And I like to layout a brand new couture outfit, operating carefully with a bride’s ideas. This cautious procedure takes a piece longer than for our conventional collections – sourcing unique fabric, buttons, and details, so it I quality to begin making plans 4-6 months earlier than the event. Just currently for this wintry weather season, we created history pageboy clothes, made as near as viable to resemble a bit boy depicted in an 18th Century Romney portrait – this changed into especially unique to do, as the kid withinside the photo is the boys’ awesome-awesome-awesome-grandfather!
What are your new patterns for 2016?
Our classics are ever famous and continually saved clean with a desire of bespoke detailing for each bride. Our Georgian blue ice silk dupion and sensitive blush red are on-fashion colorings for 2016 spring/summer. And I actually have introduced to the layout variety stimulated through ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream’, which have been proven at the catwalk on the recent ‘Brides The Show’. Reflecting the mystical appeal of fairy-land, our new attire are made in ombre silk georgette, and light-as-air organza, all adorned with hand-made silk flowers, and accessorized with an identical fairy wand!
What’s subsequent for Little Bevan?
I’m very thrilled with the approaching release of our new modern website. I can’t await the brand new season’s occasions in which we’ll be showing: The National Wedding Show, Chosen Wedding Fair, London Bridal Fashion Week; and I’m searching ahead to the innovative collaborations and provoking layout initiatives that hold me busy!

I am often asked : what quite garments should i select for my flower girls and page boys? What colours are the simplest ? Does the flower girl colour dress need to match exactly my wedding dress? How old should my flower girls and page boys be? When is that the blast to order?
So i assumed i might share with you my insiders’ tips, having designed and worked with brides to be for quite a decade, helping them styling their junior bridal party…
Which style does one want for your wedding?
What will your wedding look like? If you’re thinking of the x factor you would like your wedding to possess , then a couple of ideas could assist you determine what is going to make it unique.
First, the code . does one plan on having a black tie wedding, a standard wedding, or a more relaxed one? Would you wish to feature an additional touch of elegance?
Next question is that the location. Will it’s a city style wedding or a countryside one?
Or if your wedding is happening during a specific country or region, does one want the youngsters outfits to reflect it?
You should also ask yourself, what main colour you’d like for your wedding theme.
First and before all, it’s your day. It’s your chance to share together with your family, friends and loved ones what your personal taste is about. Make it count.
There are 3 areas where colours should match. The flowers at the altar/ reception, the flower girls / page boys outfits and last but not least, the bridesmaids’ dresses/ best men’s ties. You don’t need all the bridal party garments to be made from the exact same colours. Different colours can create a true harmony, as they complete one another very well… A powder pink for the women , a pale green cummerbund for the boys and therefore the best men ties for example…
Meanwhile, counting on the design you would like to offer to your wedding, the children’s outfits are often classic, as in Kate’s wedding or the flower girls’ dresses might be shorter, as seen on Pippa’s wedding.
For a standard wedding, my brides love our Gallia dress, with its peter pan collar and puff sleeves. They often choose the ¾ length buttons shorts or page boy knickerbockers with a double breasted shirt and cummerbund.
The children’s outfit must be beautiful on the surface yet allow those wearing them to play and celebrate . Boys specially got to be ready to run, climb trees or just sit right down to play comfortably. you’ll want the youngsters to seem their best and happy as are often . there’s nothing quite like having issues with the children’s clothes during the celebration.
So choose good quality fabrics, comfortable garments that don’t scratch.
The advantage with our taffeta fabrics is that you simply can rinse any stains (Orange juice spills for example), which might have otherwise left a permanent stain on silk fabrics.
It is important that the clothes are adapted to the child’s age which everyone feels comfortable and cozy .
We don’t want children to seem like mini adults or older flower girls to seem like little ones…
For your page boys, confirm that the bottoms have an adjustable elasticated waistband, in order that the shirt doesn’t begin . The cummerbund must even be adjustable for that perfect look. But don’t put an excessive amount of pressure on you nor on the boys… the foremost important is for them to seem gorgeous at church and for the photo sessions… then… boys will always remain boys!!
For the shoes, i like to recommend elegant leather shoes that tiny girls will always be ready to wear again. we provide a pleasant selection of very elegant and cozy shoes.
Depending on the marriage style, boys are going to be wearing Converses or loafers, without socks for a more elegant style yet relaxed. We also offer a variety of chic page boy leather shoes that they will wear again.
I recommend that children wear their new shoes a couple of days before the marriage to form sure they feel comfortable in them and don’t have hurting feet on the D day.
